Knobs for a ZB Custom

Post by Danny Kuykendall »

Looking for knobs that attach to the switches on the neck of my ZB. There are two of them and have been missing for years. Anyone have an idea of where I might find a couple?

From what I recall, they are common "Tophat" switches as found on Telecasters. Stewmac has them - well, any guitar parts supplier has them. It is likely your local music store has them. The original were made by DAKAWARE, but the copies are essentially the same. They are available in new and original vintage in cream, white, brown and black, with the cream and black being most common.
The white and brown look awful. If you have a white switch plate, you may want to select black -- the likely original switch tip color -- as cream or white tips may clash because they are slightly off in color.

Thanks! I'll look them up The originals were black, so that's what I'll order.

I would offer to send you a pair, but I only have a half dozen old cream tips and a single black.

Actually I misspoke. These are more like switch covers, not knobs. They are directly in front of and above the bottom neck and attached to the back of the top neck. I will see if I can manage to post a photo.

It looks like you are searching for what are referred to as Tele Tophat or Top-Hat switch tips such as these. Practically any guitar store has them because they are distributed by Fender, Stewmac, Mighty Mite, Allparts etc.
