Great piece; thanks for sharing. For even more history, it's hard to beat the Richard Smith book:

Highly recommended.

The Beach Boys were always one of my favorites groups. Loved the tight Harmonies. They came from Hawthorne CA and Fender was located in Fullerton a mere 30 miles away. I can't recall ever seeing a Beach Boy with a Fender Guitar in his hand??? Strange??? I could be wrong and if someone has a picutre of a BB playing a Fender please post it. You think Leo would have jumped on a hot local group espescially in that time period when Fender was going full bore. Maybe the BB's just didn't care for a Tele or Strat? 8)
Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40

Would you settle for two out of three, Bill?

Also, a nice selection of blonde Fender amps and reverb units!
