Have you actually tried one of these? 18" would be about 3" too short for me. My seat is 21" and perfect for me.

A few years back I looked for an easy-to-carry seat for gigs where I needed to go with minimum equipment. After looking at a bunch of folding stools that were too low for steel, I finally found one with a 21" seat height. It was made by GCI Outdoor, and it's called the 360° Sports Stool. It's padded and reasonably comfortable, and it's quick to set up and break down. It has tripod shock-corded legs and a carrying bag with a shoulder strap. I've used it a bunch and I like it a lot. I wouldn't call it plush but it's great for those times you want a one-trip load-in.

I just looked for them online and it seems they have been discontinued, but there are still a few on ebay and some other places. I got mine on Amazon but they don't have them anymore.
