Spotted on eBay: Conrad & His Hawaiians. The photo was taken in New York City. These pictures of the photo are not very good, but I cleaned them up a bit. Love that 7-string Rick Model B and the tweed Gibson amp.

I used to own this Model B Electro Spanish Guitar. It looks like a lap steel, but it's a standard guitar w/round neck. I put a raised nut on it and played it as a lap steel. I've never owned one of the bakelite lap steels though.

Evidently this group had another picture taken in the same session, wearing different jackets.

I had a friend who owned one of the "vibrola" model Rick Spanish guitars with the motorized vibrola built in and the pedestal down to the amp to hold it. Super cool. Wish I had bought it from him....

Did get a nice round neck style 2 tricone from him though. A bunch of kids out in the sticks of East Tennessee were playing with it out in the yard as a toy. He traded a nice top of the line red wagon (that his folks couldn't afford) for the guitar back in the seventies. Fortunately, the guitar hadn't suffered too much as a toy.

I get the feeling that these guys were pretty good musicians. They have a professional look, classy, and nice gear... Gibson guitar & amp, Rick bakelite.

I've seen pictures of that model. Pretty interesting. The main problem with the Electro Spanish Rick... the intonation above fret 7 was way off and there was no way to adjust it. The neck is just a chunk of bakelite. And the bakelite frets would wear down. That's why a previous owner installed metal frets in mine.
