Reese,I currently have two lacquer body MSAs that I would like a date for.The first is a 12 string universal, serial #1c7150. The second is a 10 string single body with no visible serial numer. Where might I look? Both guitars have the designed by Bud Carter logo.

Thanks!

The serial number on a S10 Classic is underneath stamped into the aluminum right
under the nylon tuners on the bridge and
pickup end.

Mike S.... Serial number 1C7150 shows to be a sunburst single 12 Universal which left the factory with 8 pedals and 4 knee levers.

It was originally shipped to a man named T.E.Thieman. The exact date of completion was not entered into record, however I believe it would have been made in about the middle of 1982.

The serial number on your other MSA should be stamped on the bottom close to where you found the serial number I just identified.

Bill F....Serial number 1C-6910 shows to be an emerald green single 12 VXL. The original number of pedals and knee levers installed was not entered into record, which is unusual.

It was originally shipped to Bandstand Music. The exact date of completion was not entered into record, however I believe it would have been completed in early 1982.

Thanks Reese for the info on the 12 string.I might just be out of luck on the 10 string, there is nothing stamped into the bottom or anywhere else that I can find!

Mike....Since it has a sticker with Bud Carter's name on the bottom, the chances are greatly in favor of the fact you have a production guitar. If so there is a serial number on the guitar somewhere on the frame and close to the return springs.

You might consider using a magnifying glass and if you see anything resembling a number you may lightly lightly trace it with a pencil it and the number may appear.

If you would care to send me a picture, possibly I could help you further.
