A friend is trying to determine Joe Talbot's tunings (on Hank Snow recordings). My friend knows he used a C6th for one, but says he's certain that Joe used at least one other tuning. I hope someone can supply it (or them). ...Tom

I acquired Joe’s instruments a few years back. All steels were tuned to D6 (high to low, F#, D, B, A, F#, D) and a D6 tuning was written out on an a piece of paper inside one of the steel cases. I’m not sure when he started using this tuning. I would have assumed he was a C6 player. Same tuning, but up one step. Also worth mentioning, Hank tuned down a half step back in the 50s, so many of his songs were in B instead of C, Ab instead of A, etc.
