Pedernal CD

Post by Susan Alcorn »

For those very few who might be interested, my newest album Pedernal, a quintet record, was released November 13th, 2020. It is on the New York Times list (as well as the NYC Music Daly Music Daily, NYC Jazz Record (runner-up album of the year), Quietus, the Denver Post, Disko Ryxeion (Greece), Zoro, and There Stands the Glass) las one of the best jazz albums of 2020 (first time for a pedal steel record?) which I know means absolutely nothing to the majority of pedal steel players here, but if you are one of these few and might be interested in purchasing an album that's a little different, you can find it here:

Thank you.

... and the accolades seem to just keep coming.
Very enjoyable album, Susan.
Not too safe.
Not too out there (for those who might expect otherwise).
Fine balance, and the compositions fit the band very well.

IMHO This is one of your best CDs. It must have been difficult finding musicians who as good as you are, but these players are. It's great to hear you interact with them.

This is a wonderful record and very accessible. Recommend highly to anyone who values radar-like interplay between musicians and free improv within a compositional framework.
