To all GFI folks.... I have done a lot of miles with my Ultra, and I know that Factory recommends that no lube is needed (on the legs..etc) but they seem to be crying out for a bit of a squirt. Dont want to go against factory specs, but any thoughts?

Chris, I would use a few, well placed microdrops in the Delrin bushings and the changer shaft. Use an oiler with a long, needle applicator. Such can be found on ebay, and other places. 3-in-i oil is good, as any 10wt. The key is to not use too much, and tilt the guitar, so that gravity will pull the oil where it is needed. Be careful though, it is easy to apply too much. Clean any excess with a clean cloth (non lint type)

Dry silicone is the perfect material for lubricating this guitar, it won't swell the "Delron" inserts. Will not attract dust in the changer also.

Petroleum based oils will work for a while, but will damage the "Delron" after a period on time.

Thanks Bobbe.....got a SD Ultra keyless in stock? Might come over for a look and a buy. Not fussy about the colour.

GFI uses Delrin in their guitars. Delron and Delrin are two different compositions.
