Playing Walking Bass Line at the same time as hitting the Melody on the high Strings. Playing Melody on the Bass Strings and sounding like a mans Baritone voice. Playing riffs on bass then repeating a couple octaves higher.
I have his Album “Jesus Can Fix It†on constant play. So much energy (clams and all), so much beauty. The “under arm†guitar player backing him is amazing. This record has Jams, Shuffles, Stomps and some beautiful ballads.
Downloaded the album from iTunes.
I did some research and found out how late to the party I am, but Rather than resurrect a thread from 12 years ago, I wanted to start a new one to bring attention to this amazing “Steel Without Pedals†creativity.
RIP Sonny, your music still lives Brother!
Any other Sonny Treadway fans?
Peace,
James |

I have been listening to this recording a lot as well. First heard him on Rykodisc’s None But the Righteous compilation (2001). Really enjoy his bass work on the steel.

Sonny’s “Don’t Let The Devil Ride” was one of the tunes that brought me into the world of Sacred Steel. Love his of school vibe! |
