Forum member Luke Goetz has great technique with palm pedals on his Deusenberg lap steel. Check out this rendition of Neil Young's "Old Man".

Also, notice that the vertical right knee movement from his volume pedal doesn't seem to hurt his playing one bit!

Luke is one of my favorite players; great touch, tone and musical taste!

I've been watching Luke for over a year now.
He is amazing. I can't think of anyone who is better at using benders and the VP.
He is also the reason I bought my Fairytale.
For some reason I don't sound a lot like he does.
Yet.........

After watching these videos, i've got the bug for this tuning. My eureka moment was that, with pedals down, it's like a Dobro. I just ordered a Certano bender for my old Supro lap steel. With the shorter 22.5" scale, I'm not sure if I will use D6 over G, or E6 over A......

I play D/G on my Rickenbacker and on my reso. It's just a slack of 2 strings from G major: G B D F# A D. I don't have the palm pedals, but even without them it's a very versatile tuning.
