I think this is the only time I ever used the low E string on a recording. The guitar was a Williams D-12.

A few years later I recorded the same song with a full band, using a Desert Rose S-8 tuned to D6th. My lowest string was G, and the C6th standard P5 lowered it to E instead of raising it to G#.
