Burke Carroll on Bobby Dove's

Post by Bob Blair »

Toronto's Burke Carroll is all over this album - just tons of great steel guitar, on songs that cry out for pedal steel. Great job Burke! And great record Bobby! It's so refreshing to hear this much pedal steel doing what the instrument does so well, at least in the hands of a master like Burke. You can check it out on Bandcamp, iTunes and I think all the other usual suspects.https://bobbydove.bandcamp.com

Burke & Bobby

Burke & I had the good fortune to be initially taught by Ron Dann then Burke has spent endless hours with Stevie Smith and Bob Lucier and many other musicians upon which opened his sights to lap steel, Dobro and National etc. he is killing it on traditional Hawaiian styles these days also but alas I’m unable to impress upon him the virtues of switching careers to truck driving?... lol! Thanks for the heads up on this project Bob, your ear is always to the ground and wide open for new inspiration!
I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.
I received my education, drivin through the Nation listenin to Paul!.. ( Franklin that is! )

Burke was starting to get around as a steel player by the time I hit for the west coast way back when. By the time I made it back to Toronto in late 87 he was the guy! I really like this record - Bobby Dove is the real deal.

Bob; Any interest in truck driving?!!... LOL! I couldn't agree with you more, Burke has been so helpful to me over the years and opened my eyes to things on the steel and just music in general, great guy, wonderful musician!

Burke Carroll is just great. Probably my favourite steel player. I was lucky enough to get a couple of lessons off him when my daughter lived in his neighbourhood.
