Logic Pro X drum track

Post by Al Evans »

I am almost completely ignorant of drums, and specifically, drums in Logic Pro X. I want to make some good country drum backing tracks, but I honestly don't know where to start. Can somebody walk me through a simple procedure, preferably starting with one of the "smart drummers" included in the software?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Al. Can you give me an idea of what you consider a simple country beat? Name a song and I’ll listen to it and come back you you with something in Drummer as an example. I’ve been working with Drummer for a bit now.

Sure! Here are a couple of examples of the kinds of tracks I'm wanting to do:

Charlie Shearer and Gary Hogue, I Just Destroyed The World

Buck Owens, Close Up The Honky-Tonks

And a slower one, Vince Gill and Paul Franklin, Together Again

Thank you very much for any pointers you can give me!

Al, I tried to explain the best I could, but I'm a poor teacher. Take a look at this video and let me know what you think. Unfortunately, I can't do all the work for you.

Thank you!! That looks like just what I need to get started. I kick myself for never being snared into learning to play drums, at least a little.

Al, this guy did a 4 part tutorial on Drummer that I think is the best I have seen. I’m working through editing a drum track now that I created and will be changing the kit to one of the producer packs soon for mixing. It’s definitely worth a watch. Here’s the first episode.
