Recently I did a swap with Rick Alexander - my Stringmaster for his '71 Sho-Bud 'Professional'. I love the 'Bud - it's in good condition and has a great tone - but it's not going to work for me as a 'back up' working steel. I'd have kept it if I could have afforded to, but it's now going to another new home - my friend, Bud Vanderberg.
Bud had acquired a '95 Mullen D10 and we've done some trading - the Mullen (in glorious black!) arrived here in Medora, ND, yesterday, and I've now set her up. It's a beautiful guitar, and sounds super! It's currently 8 & 5, but I'll probably add a couple of C6 levers in due course. I have plenty on E9...
A special word here about Bud. He's really gone the extra mile for me on this deal. He spent a lot of time putting my 'Day' set-up on the guitar (knowing, as he does, how mechanically-challenged I am!) and packing and shipping the instrument so I'd have it here as a much-needed diversion in my exile...
Thanks again, Bud!

you mean I'm not the first to ever "lean on my steel" for support? [This message was edited by Ray Minich on 23 June 2006 at 11:30 AM.] |

I just KNEW it would work out something like that.
It's a great solution. You get the guitar you need with the setup you use and . . .
. . . Bud gets the Bud.
I'm looking forward to seeing both guitars. I'm in the middle of a CD project right now but hope to catch up with Bud at the Manasota club once my schedule permits.
Congrats to Roger and Bud.

(Hi, Larry!)
I'm just starting to get to know this guitar and, so far, I'm very impressed. I need to shorten a couple of pedal rods just a fraction as I expect to be playing this guitar in my bare feet quite a lot (nocturnal inspiration!), but it's pretty well 'ready to play'.
I'm struck by the fact that it looks like a 'wraparound'!!! The action is very smooth, and the build-quality is impressive. The guitar is very stable (more so than my LeGrande, actually) and I know I'm going to enjoy it very much.
By the way - I've just discovered yet another virtue of the now-ubiquitus and celebrated Peavey NV-112 amp. I only brought one 'Steelers Choice' seat with me to ND, but I DID bring both 112s. I was temporarily stuck for something to sit at my Mullen on, but turning the 112 on its side provides a nearly-perfect seat.... (I'm not sure how my poor 112 feels about this, but it works for me!)
Back to my new toy.....
RR
PS: Yes, Larry - it's nice that both guitars will stay in our FL 'family'! |
