Here's Roy Drusky and band in the late 1950's. Does anyone recognize any of the band members, particularly the steel player?

I did a Google search and, among many other items, found this picture of a gentleman named Jim Baker. His obituary from several years ago stated he had played steel guitar for Roy Drusky and several more singers.

Kinda / sorta looks like he might be the steel player in the OP photo, many years later.

Looks like Jack "Curly" Evans to me.

Somewhere I read that Jack Evans was the player on this old Ray Price video.

I agree Frank. Nice sound too. The first video is Jack playing a Bigsby pedal steel, but he was using slants there too.

Not a 100% sure, but think Jack`s name is spelled Evins. He was one the great ones at that time.

Jack Evins played steel for Ray Price in the '50s. He thought the name came from an Irish ancestor named Nevins, a pirate who came to the USA and changed his name to hide from authorities. I interviewed Jack about working with Marty Robbins.

Did we ever decide who Roy Drusky's steel player is in that photo? I'm thinking it's the one John mentioned - Jim Baker. It doesn't look like Jack Evins playing with Drusky.

I regret to say I didn't take a photograph, and I don't remember what Jack Evins looked like.

The man in the picture does not look Jack to me. He looks taller and leaner than Jack.

I seen Roy in Columbus, Ohio in 1968 and Tommy Kiley was his pedal steel player. I believe Tommy was from Ohio

That's my opinion too. We have videos of Jack Evins during the same time period, while he was playing for Ray Price. Certainly not the one playing for Drusky.
