Kinda sounds like my playing. Haha, nice effort. Just needs a little polishing.

Probably a while. Those C-clamps are a nuisance!

Gotta give the guy a A for effort.. He needs to rethink his copedent a bit to be able to go from I toIV to V and maybe a relative minor.Use a real bar as well, and certainly LOSE the big C clamps...bob

I agree. He's getting some interesting chords in open position, but he really needs to work on his playing technique. He would be so much better off buying a student model pedal steel. But... then he would probably tear it all apart and put in his own parts, maybe even cables! Some guys are more interested in tinkering and cobbling than actually learning to play the steel.

I love it, A+ for effort all the way. Some of the rube goldberg shenanigans I come up with to try things out are right outta this playbook.....been that way since I started making stuff 45 years ago and I ain't changin' now!

Merry Christmas to all y'all!

I'm with Ross! This is where innovation begins. This is far more effort than I would have ever put forth. If you don't take the first step, you don't move forward. I'd love to see the underside "buisness" end of it!
Ross, you may have a nice CNC machine, but I'll bet this guy owns more c-clamps than you do!

Can’t throw out the c-clamps. He needs one more and it will sound like a wrap around!!! Lmbo!!

I'd be interested to see how it sounded with a better bar, some reverb, and more practice. As long as the pedals did their job well enough, you could coax some real twang out of it. I wonder what kind of changer it is...

There would be a distinct advantage to having a steel that could be built/repaired almost completely from hardware store parts.

Wow! I think you're right. He seems to be a Rube Goldberg of weird homemade instruments and electronics. And he looks to be younger than I would have guessed by watching his PSG video.

Yes, the black C-clamps definitely have a warmer tone. It’s like, push, pull, and clamp.
