I have a Tascam US-16x08 USB interface which I intend to fit into in a rack case.
I want to ditch the original power supply and replace it with an in-line unit. Is there any reason why a generic 12V 2A switching power supply would not be suitable? _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Generic should work fine. Specs are 12V DC, center positive, output capacity of at least 1 amp, so your 2A supply would be fine. _________________ Long-time guitar player, now wrestling with lap steel. |

Be aware that some power supplies are not filtered and may cause noise. You will know right away. |

Adding to what Larry said; The inherent switching noise is not usually a problem for digital devices, but can cause issues with audio equipment. Usually (but not universally) the switcher freqency is above the hearing range of dogs, but still can cause audio artifact weirdness.
You may want to seek out a linear power supply. All else being equal, it will weigh over twice a much as a switcher.
Grounding is worth looking at. If there's a 3rd pin safety earth on the mains side of the supply; Does it directly connect to DC ground on the other side?
Some switchers dump their unwanted noise into the sink hole of a mother earth connection, but if that's also circuit ground on the audio equipment, you may hear noise. _________________ Carters Starter, D10 8+7, SD10, Chandler RH-2, Rogue RLS-1
