Hi Doug, Seeing you up on this successful plateau reminds me of when I played steel with Rachel Landry. The first time she hired you on guitar & me on steel, I was nervous before the gig and posted on the S.G.F. "Imagine playing steel with Doug Beaumier looking over your shoulder." I love your playing of "Ghost Riders". You must have come out of the womb playing steel.

Hi Manny, it’s nice to see you here on the forum. 😊🎅 Those gigs with Rachel seem like a lifetime ago. I’m sure we’ll all be back to playing gigs before too long! Have a nice Holiday.

Hello in my eighty seven years, seventy five playing the steel guitar, I never heard it played any better.
Most important to me was , no special effects like so many seem to use on this song.
Your dedication to the purity of the instrument is at the forefront.
Thank you so much for this post. This inspires me to keep on learning.

Thank you for your kind words, Willis. Much appreciated. Yes, the only effects I'm using are reverb (in the Quilter Tone Block amp) and delay (in the recording program, Audacity). In general, I believe that cleaner is better, so reverb is usually the only effect I use.

Doug you always play the melody. Not many pickers do that. I guess they can't resist playing every lick they have learned,Ha!! You always nail it!!! Great job.

Thanks Joe. Yeah, I guess I’m a melody guy. I usually play the melody first, then some improv, and then back to the melody.
