5mm hex wrench

Post by Frank Freniere »

Seek a small tuning wrench for a Zum Encore.

www.psgparts.com is currently out of the Single and Double 5MM/Allen 7/64" wrench.

Send me a PM and a picture if you have one to go.

I don't have any to spare, but I recently purchased a 5mm nut driver on ebay for less than $10 including shipping, so if you're willing to live with a screwdriver-sized tool instead of a small wrench, they're gettable.

Thanks, Ben. I have two of those already.

This is what I'm looking for.

Good luck, and happy hunting. I ended up with the nut driver because I also couldn't find those anywhere.

Hey Frank,
Give Billy Cooper Music a call! I think he has what you're looking for.

An idea. 5mm is just a tad larger and the aluminum is pretty soft. If you have one of those 1/4 in. screwdriver handle assortment bit kits with a 5mm hex bit you can use that as a sort of broach to open up a 3/16 standard wrench pretty easy.

A few taps on the bit with a hammer should take care of it and the metal sholdn't tear.

You'll need a vise and pliers to get the bit back out, but it's no big deal.

You can make your own and use the very slightly bigger size on all nylon nuts.

Touch up with a needle file set and you're good.

If you can find a steel one rather than aluminum your white tuners won't get all dirtied up. Just a tip. ;-)

I'd be happy to Frank, but I don't think I have another here....I'll double check though.
