...and a great job on those harmonics. I think that's what made me give up on learning this song some time back. Now that I've been inspired, I may have to revisit it.

Beautifully done! You navigated all those transitions with great finesse, but I have to reserve my greatest praise for your vibrato--honestly the best I've heard since Iona maybe. So perfect. Like a digital effect (which in a sense, it is!) Blows me away.

There's a lot of emotion there Rick. Great vibrato and tone for a slow difficult song (the slow ones are the hard ones).
I hear Jerry's E9th in there, good tuning for that song.

I've been working on playing everything on just one string ... concentrating on vibrato

This is my first foray back into polyphony in over a year ... .

Funny you mentioned digital effects ...I bought a Boss vibrato pedal and a looper pedal a couple years ago ... tried using the Boss itself a few years back when my tremors were made worse with inappropriate dosing of meds ... but it sounded weird to me ... robotic ..

Then I remembered someone's ear tracing techniques matching a drone note ... So I figured it might work the same way for vibrato.

So for 1/2 an hour each day I played a single note set at a rate of 6 Hz and an extent of about 50 cents and looped it ... playing along until it was ingrained in my muscle memory ...
I continue to use it as part of my daily practice routine ...

Hi Rick, good to hear your still playing. I really love the sound of the 25.5 Tenor, reminds me of Dick McIntire's tone. The vibrato on the single string video is very nice. I've been fooling around on Sol's C#min7 tuning and stuff from the 30' and 40'on my old blue Magnatone. I'm pretty sure I need a long scale lap steel, the difference in tone is something.

Really. It shows what is possible when you isolate one aspect of your technique and dedicate yourself to it. Either that or Rick made a deal with the devil down at the crossroads and sold his soul for it.

It's cast A356 aluminum ... I made them as a "set" ... black wrinkle finish
