Here's a request for Alden Oldfield. "Just a Drink Away" is a cover by Charley Crockett of an old Ernest Tubb tune. It's on Charley's "Lil G.L.'s Honky Tonk Jubilee" Album. Nathan Fleming plays some great steel on this album. Here's a whack at Nathan's intro and break at 1:17.

Hey Liam, D would be the knee lever that lowers strings 4 and 8 one half tone. To add to the confusion there really is no community standard on assigning letters to levers (pedals A, B, C are pretty standard) and some guys refer to that change as an "E" lever.
At the bottom of page 2 on the tab, the G lever lowers string 6 a full tone. You may or may not have that lever on your particular setup. |

That's my Boy!!!! You know Nathan was my first student when I started teaching in 1998 in Round Rock, Tx. He was a joy and a natural to teach. Every pickin pattern I would show him that took me a freakin year to learn...he would learn it IMMEDIATELY!!! and he was the only one to ever learn and master all 35 licks and solos I came up with, most of them, on my Video/Tab I put out back in 2000. He always practices and he is ALWAYS great. Of course these days; he has far surpassed his Teacher..ah...ha....but he kept me enthused as a teacher; which is very important to have.
Proud of you Nathan.

Dirk, love him or hate him, you can always tell it's him from just a few seconds into the song. Sorta like Johnny Cash, it's him, his style, his way, all the way to the bank. Haha!
I think he has recorded hundreds of songs... Maybe more. |

Question to Jeff or others-I don’t have that change on my 6th string anymore, got rid of it ‘ cause I don’t have split tuning on my ShoBud...
I guess a whole step lower bar slant on the 6th string as an option?
Any options with the 7th string?
Omit the 6th string and grab the 7th string as a substitute?

Thank you all very much for your nice comments. Nathan really has some fun licks on this album. Hope the tab is close - I do this by ear. 
Dana: try out the tab below for another option. Pick the 7th string at the 10th fret (same note as the 6th string lowered a full tone), then the 8th string and try that slide up to the slant. I find a two fret slant on adjacent strings can be tough. This way you only have to slant one fret.
