I've been watching Tubb's band with Buddy Charleton in it and I was curious about the model he's playing. Fingertip? Permanent? Whatever it is, it sounds real good.

The blonde one with card suits on the middle front apron is a Sho~bud Fingertip.

I believe this is true of just about all musical instruments, that as technology advances, so a certain amount of character is lost.

Instruments are not what they used to be to me. I wish Gibson, Fender, and other would stick with what made them great.

Charleton probably played at least a half-dozen different Sho~Buds during his tenure with Tubb. The one that fascinated me most was the one with eight "doubled" strings, heard on this song (and a few others). It had an almost violin-like sound:

I am pretty sure this is a photo of the dubble eight string.
