Old Evans Hybrid amp/ need help!

Post by Alan Rudd »

I have an old Evans Hybrid amp that needs some work. Having hard time finding parts. I have checked with Scott at Evans and had no luck, since this is an older amp. Wondering if anyone has any idea who I could take it to? I am a couple of hours from OKC and Dallas...I would appreciate any suggestions, we just don't have anyone in this town that works on amps.

Do you have a schematic of the amp? With that info I might be able to help you with specifying parts.

No sir, I don't...think it just needs some resistors that we can't seem to find anywhere...

Can't find the right value of the resistor? you may need to use two or more in series or parallel

Derrell Stephens is your guy, he probably built it. He lives near Texarkana, Tx.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

Hi Allan...I have an assortment of NOS resistors in various values. If you find out the values you need and let me know what they are, I'll see if there is anything there that you need.

The Sho~Bud Compactra, 300 Hybrid and FET 500 HV were Jim Evans designs. Derrell designed the FET 500 LV

Jim sent me all the schematics he could find years ago as he wanted to repair his older amps.

We became great friends over the years. He was electronics go to guy for a lot things I would have need for help on. I miss him very much! One of the great ones!!!
