One more comment concerning Leona's 'I Love You Because' CD.....not only the great steel playing by Dicky but also the wonderful fiddle of Bobby Flores. The first time I heard the title song, I was in my car going home from the store listening to it on XM. I was a half mile past my house before I realized it........we had the only house on our road and I missed it.

Dicky is on a number of Justin Trevino's CD's as well...(so is Bobby)

Dickey can also be heard on Johnny Bush's "I'll Be There" and also on some of Darrell & Mona McCall's albums.

Loving this post! I'm getting some great ideas for some music I hadn't explored before. Thanks for all the album suggestions, forumites! I think Dicky has now become one of my favourite steel players of all time. He gets so much emotion out of that bar.

Hey Ricky, way, way back in the year 2007 you discussed helping him set up his Bud:

b0b commented on the originality of his RKL, and you mentioned that you added the half stops and splits:
Ricky Davis wrote:Yes b0b; I was suprised when Dickie said he had that change on his RKL all these years.
He actually plays only the 4 knees; I'm putting the vertical on per his request....but everything else is just like he's always played it(well except I'm adding half stops and split tuning per his request also; as he said he's always wanted them; but never had them).
Ricky
Just wondering what he had on there before you added the half stops? Did he raise string 1 to G and lower string 2 to D, and then you helped him to add the G# and C# respectively? Or did he raise string 1 to G# and lower string 2 to C#?

RIP Dicky - one of the great underrated players

Thanks Greg; and yes, Dicky has always had RKL pull string 1 to G# and lower string 2 to C# and when I told him I can put a feel stop half way for those two changes; and he loved it. Also told him he can lower 6th string a whole tone from the pedal down A note and he said he would love that cause he only lowered the open G# to F# ; cause that was the only way it would tune properly....ha.....I told him: "Dicky; that's why I'm standing in front of you; I'm here to make your steel guitars do what you always wished they would do"..ha...he laughed and then gave me a hug.
He was one of the great souls I've ever met.
