Identify this steeler
This image appeared in a Craig's list ad. Looks like a guitarist doubling on steel in a jazz-trio setting.

(I used to have that Epi amp!)

Yep, this is the page that image came from: https://oldmonmusic.blogspot.com/2012/1 ... union.htmlChris Brooks wrote:Wow, thanks, Ian!
Would Local 471, then, have been the African-American "alternative" to a [white] Pittsburgh local?

Evening Sky
Hi Chris, I hope I am not offtrack. Speaking of jazz trios with a steel guitar, this reminds me of when Roger Trahan and I saw you in the "Evening Sky" trio playing in Providence, RI before Covid 19. I was not expecting such tight progressive playing.

Manny, a compliment like yours can never be off-track, amigo!
Ian, very interesting follow up. Thank you. Gee, they look like a happy, cool bunch of musicians clustered around the steel: evidently a non-pedal 8 on home-made stand.
No logo, so what do you non-pedal experts think? Could it be a Rickenbacker, Doug?

I think it's an Epiphone. The tuner buttons are Epiphone all the way, unique. Notice that they're the same as the tuner buttons on the gentleman's Epiphone guitar next to him. And he's playing through an Epiphone amp.No logo, so what do you non-pedal experts think? Could it be a Rickenbacker, Doug?
I did a Google search for Epiphone console steel guitars and found pictures of D-8's and none of them had legs. So it's safe to say that he's playing an E'ppy D-8 with a homemade stand.
