My amp.
I inherited a steel guitar and amp when my dad died 14 years ago. The guitar an amp has been setting in my basement for 14 years. Now this is an enclosed part of my house. I am a pianist by trade and I really didn’t want to sell it because it was my Dad’s. Recently I am thinking I might take up the instrument myself. The amp is a Peavey session 500 mark IV. I turned the amp on and plugged a cord into a strat and straight into the amp and no sound at all. Fuse is good . Any ideas?
Yes this should be posted in Electronics.
But in the meantime, go to the back of the amp, take another guitar cord and run it from "preamp out" to "amp in". Those jacks might have oxidized and the naturally closed circuit might be open. If you don't have another cord, take your cord and insert the plug into both of those jacks in & out repeatedly. It might work off the dirt/oxidation.
No guarantee that this is the problem but it's worth a shot.
