Buddy Emmons The Singing Steel Player

Post by Kenneth Kotsay »

It's a fact I'm sure, Buddy dose sing mighty good, I heard him at in November 1987 while attending the Pedal Steel Guitar Association's annual steel jam in Armonk, NY.

Buddy sang, "Four-five Time" and accompanying him, were backup singers, Jeff Newman and John DeMelie.
I still have the recording on cassette tape as evidence.

What great pedal steel shows back then, shame it's all gone.

I believe that he was asked if he wanted to be a singer or an instrumentalist. (Might have been by Little Jimmy Dickens.) I'm glad of what he chose. Anyway...

Some Buddy singing...

Four, Five Times

Bottle Baby Boogie

Deep in the Heart of Texas

Also rare audio of the Emmons, Baugh & the Sound Factory 45 RPM record: We're In This Love Together
My best,
Ernie
