Sad another good one has left us. I also used to listen Bill late at night, and in later years on XM Sirius radio.

What a shame. Passing of another great songwriter and Country DJ. A legend in my book. Prayers for his family.

Aww, man... another old buddy gone. He and Dad were dear friends, and I got to know him from their relationship.

I'm sure he and Pop are having a great ol' reunion. :( :)

Good obit;

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/coronavirus ... s/2417743/

He always dismissed his own singing, but he made a lot of good records in their style in the 50s--rockabilly/honky tonk/country boogie.

Here's a little bit of info that obit didn't include.

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Family of a radio legend beloved by truckers everywhere and whose career began right here in Wichita Falls state he has died from COVID-19.

Bill Mack got his first break deejaying at KWFT in the early 1950s, and that led to a contract with imperial records in 1951.

I would have crashed and burned many a night on long overnight driving trips if Bill Mack and Charlie Douglas hadn't kept me awake. I owe them a lot more than I can say. Thanks to them I'm still alive today. Thanks fellas. RIP.

You to listen to him when I was working late nights and he knew where every truck stop was for those hard working truckers. Bill use to be a guard in Grand Prairie @ Chance Vought aka LTV back in the 60's. Yeppers he will be missed as he was another great song writer.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I spent many nights listening to his show on WBAP.

He and I have mutual relatives, and I always enjoyed the times I got to spend with him.

He will be missed.

Bill Mack

I listened to him during the spring & summer on 1971 while I was at Lackland AFB , San Antonio & Sheppard AFB at Wichita Falls, TX.

There was a song out [ can not remember the name ] with 2 different versions - one by a man and another by a woman.

He played them " together " so it sounded like a duet - sounded great!!

So sorry to hear of his passing.

Bill Mack - "country Crossroads"

Post by Stan Knowles NC »

It is with shock...hearing of the passing of Bill Mack!

I had the privilege of working with Bill Mack, Leroy Van Dyke and Jerry Clower for many years on the "Country Crossroads" radio show. My friend Jim Rupe was the first producer of "Crossroads" and I was the second one. We both did interviews on the show which was on the air a long, long time on thousands of radio stations around the world......and.....EVERYBODY knew BILL MACK!

Bill was an ORIGINAL! His particular STYLE was his own. He was an extremely talented songwriter and artist. But, as a country disk jockey..there was nobody better than BILL MACK!

Bill was a Christian...and is with Jesus right now!

Cindy, we are praying for you and the family!

I love you!
