I am new here. Only just found this forum! I came across this forum while trying to find out some info on a steel I have which is a pacific string master 8 string. Its in great condition and I'll take some photos when I get home but I'm also after a ballpark price on this as I cant find anything like it on the web. Photo from the archive until I can take one at home.
Just got home....... I need to clean some dust off but here it is. The mechanism behind the tuning dials is unreal!! Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
If the Bakelite cover is in one piece, you are lucky. Be extra careful that it doesn't get dropped on a hard floor. They fall off really easily. The price is what you can get for it. In the US, it would be comparable in quality to an Oahu, not a Rickenbacher. So check those prices and adjust for the Australian market. The main defect is lack of sustain due to the weird nut and bridge arrangement.
Don't go in the water after lunch. You'll get a cramp and drown. - Mother.
Cheers guys, Yeah the bakelite cover is intact which is good I guess, it does come off a bit easy though. I gave it a run today and it sounds great. the key changes work a treat! Thanks again for the info and the link to the history of it. its a cool piece.
These pics are for Jeff Ross. Mine does have a number, it’s either 01 or 91 I can’t really tell. It’s also got a couple of drops of areldiite at the end of the cover which keeps the cover from falling off. The pics are of nut and the bridge set up. Let me know if you want any other shots of the set up.
Thanks for the photos John. Your guitar looks to be in very good cosmetic condition. Your head decal is complete, mine is perhaps 50% intact. Your number 91 is engraved wheras David Matzenik’s is stamped. That suggests a serial number rather than a year which David’s 47 could have suggested. If that is the case there could be at least 87 more out there waiting to be discovered.
