Lightening up the rig.

Post by Bob Grado »

I’m looking to put together a light rig using the Sarno V8 and an Eminence EPS 15C mounted in speaker cab.
All suggestions on a light power amp to add to the mix would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking to put together a light rig for small club gigs.

I’m running the V8 through a Toneblock 200 now and I’m not happy with the result. The toneblock has its own preamp ( contour)that I feel muddys the tone of the V8 preamp.

Looks like this would be a good match for your V8. Small, lightweight, powerful, clean.

The TC Electronics BQ250 has an aux in on the rear. The Bam200 does not. I would want the 250. One of our forum members was using it with only the Black Box and sounds great. Otherwise a pure power amp only for the V8. I have a Revelation and the Stewart 1.2 world power amp in a rack. Slightly heavy rig but not like an amp. Fantastic tone. I do like the Telonics combo amps and they are lightweight.

I got a good deal on an ISP Technologies Stealth 180-watt Pedalboard power amp.
Looking forward to hearing It between the V8 and Eminence speakers.
As always I appreciate all the feedback.

Lightweight rig compilation

Post by Roger Dillingham »

I would like to make it a "third" recommendation for Jay Ganz' Straight Ahead power amp! Has all the power you would need, runs very cool with built-in fan, and available at a very affordable price. Plus, Jay being a forum member and ready to help with any issues, should you need any help. He's a great guy to 👢! Good luck, Roger 🙂
