So. What I see it is a 1995 model. If so why does it have Mullen on it instead of Royal Does that make it worth less or more

AFAIK all the guitars Del has built are branded "Mullen" and have that script logo on the front. Not all say "Royal". The Royal Precision naturally does,and my very early--mid Seventies at the youngest-- blond S-10(pictured upthread) has the word "Royal" in small type by the last fret marking.I'd heard that Del had a brother named Royal who died very young and the name Royal,as in "Royal Precision"--and maybe on my S-10-- memorializes him. As to value,IMO the marketplace and instrument condition are much greater determinants than whether a particular Mullen guitar has or doesn't have the name "Royal"; yours is probably worth a couple of G's at least. In any event your Pre-Royal Precision is a honey of a guitar and will do right by you long into the future.Good score!

Do you know if the Pre-Royal has the same rodding chart as the Royal Precision?

Mine is a SD 10 Pre-Royal 1992. Im guessing the charts are the same.

Dave does have some correct info there. Del did have a little brother that died very young, his name was Royal. The first guitars Del built where called Royal and not Mullen, they had sort of a crown logo, I do not know the number of these that were built. Later in the 60's as Del started to get some more demand for the guitar, it was re-branded Mullen. Dave has a very early Mullen. There was no official model name until the Royal Precision, which is Royal for his Brother then precision for the quality of the beast. So the HWP and Pre-Rp are both terms that the original model got deemed over the years. The term HWP model was used when the Royal Precision came out. Herby loved the tone of the Pre-RP and we continued for many years making the HWP (sold exclusively through Herby Wallace) until the G2 came out. Then that took over on all aspects. We did do an exclusive HWP G2 as well, which was sold through Herby and had a few of his special features. Well there's a little history for you.

Mullen Guitars will "Spoil You"! Dearly love my Pre- RP. For me they "fit like a glove".
