Venus - I’m so sorry for your loss.

I’m also not sure, but I think this guitar is worth more than you are asking. Hopefully some experts will show up to make sure you get all you can out of this steel guitar.

Yours, Bill

Venus,
I'm also saddend to hear about the passing of your husband Roger.

I think that the advice that Bill Ladd gives is appropriate. I also think your guitar is worth more (maybe quite a bit more) than your asking price. Also, I think that most members of The Steel Guitar Forum would understand if you decided to wait to sell until you have a better understanding of what it is worth. Also, many members here on the Forum can provide expert advice on the value of this guitar. If you would like, you could post under the Pedal Steel tab a request for this the value of this guitar.

Best wishes,

Greg Forsyth

Ah, i know people are trying to be helpful, but if you check the posting history on this guitar you will see she has had it for sale for a year at $1,500 and no takers. Just let her sell it.

Great steel

Post by Alan Ames »

These are fantastic steels, I would buy it, but, alas the only problem with these is the weight.
But the beauty is the weight, if you're young and strong. The mass gives great tone and sustain. Built so well, they last a long time. This one looks pristine.

I would not expect Venus to reply, I doubt she knows and is just trying to clear things out of her life and doesn’t check in here often. It is still available as far as I know.

This is nearly identical to the S-12 Sierra I had for many years. They are great guitars. I recorded an album with mine. At the time, I had it tuned to tuned to an F Diatonic copedent. Here's a sample from that: https://b0blee.bandcamp.com/track/courtship

Nice playing Bob. The guitar sounds lovely too. Is that a phase shifter?

I think that the effect was built into the Roland V-Studio recorder, John. At any rate, my intent here was to demonstrate that these old Sierras are marvelous instruments capable of anything you want to throw at them. I sold mine a couple of years ago to a Forum member in Arizona, and I understand that he is gigging with it (I never did, because of the weight). Roger's guitar looks as pristine as the day it was made. Very nice!
