I have noticed that the Zum Pedal Steels really hold their value. Is their that much difference between a Zum or a Sho Bud or a Emmons? They are a nice sounding guitar but why are the so expensive. I always thought that the Fulawka was the Cadillac of Pedal Steels. Franklin are a beautiful guitar for sure.

Because, Zums are are no longer being built and they are of the highest quality. A very well built and dependable guitar. Supply and demand, just like the Franklins, except you can still buy a Zum cheaper than a Franklin. Bruce Zumsteg is a highly reputable builder and many well known players are playing them.
