What is the quietest digital delay pedal that won't break the bank and still sounds good?

| I've had several, & most had a percussive sound on the delay. Gonna sell those as I just got a Hilton delay. Clean & smooth! Bout $135 incl Va. tax |

| Agree with Pat on the Hilton. I liked my first Legend Pro Delay so much I purchased another one. Keep in mind the Hilton is marketed as "analog," not "digital," which may be why I like 'em so much. It's warmer and less sterile-sounding than the digital delays I've played through, albeit with far fewer bells and whistles. |

I picked this little Delay up off Ebay very small very quite and sounds great I think there about $30.00 new this one was used I think I paid $20.00 shipped. Its not a DD-3 but I love it.

You would need to define what your idea of a proper delay would be. Analog with degraded repeats or digital with carbon copy repeats?
And what breaking the bank means to you.

| Hilton Legend Pro Delay works for me. Al Brisco has them at Steel Guitars of Canada. Can't beat his price and it's already in Canada. |

| Hi Charlie- Long & Mcquade rents all but their high priced pedals- I'd recommend getting a bunch and keeping your favorite. Diamond makes excellent very well regarded pedals by hand in NS- their Memory Lane Jr. may have too many features for you, but it's worth a look- my favorite. |

I’m not a pro player, never will be so what I need is something that sounds decent and doesn’t buzz and hum like a lot of them do. As far as not breaking the bank, that’s a moveable point but less than $100.

Some of the guys here use the Joyo pedals. I have no experience with them personally, but they are pretty affordable. I think the JF-08 dig delay pedal is under $40 USD.
Might search the forum for some info on these.
...now to wake up all the Behringer haters, there's the Behringer VD400 vintage analog delay pedal for about $30. Again, no personal experience. |

Right now I’m using an Ammoon delay that sounds good but when I run it on electric it has a hum. When I run it on battery it’s dead quiet but batteries only last a few days

Delays are power hungry. Too much going on for batteries to be of any good.
Sounds like you're experiencing the classic humming power wall wart or a ground loop between your amp and the AC socket your delay adapter is plugged into.
Cliche question: Are your delay adapter and amp plugged into the same outlet?
Any other pedals in the chain using AC adapters?

The amp and the pedal are plugged into the same outlet. I’ll change that tomorrow and see how it works. Thanks.

Actually you want the AC to be off the same outlet. Not unless the outlet is not wired to code on both sides.
Try plugging in one power strip and then plugging the amp and adapter into the strip.
Lots of similar issues like this with hum from a rig.
Others would suggest a Hum canceler.
Sometimes the adapter itself is the culprit and there are others that might work better.
It often takes some time to track down the source of the hum.

Hiss is generally different form hum. Hiss would mean the delay is not quiet at its output.
Here's something that claims to fix that.
It's all trial and error.

I own and use 3 different Delay Pedals, ( they are in different Pedal Boards for different uses )
All to me are quiet. They are for LIVE performance, not recording. When I play the Senior Dances , most of them already have built in delay ! When I play in the Restaurants and Sports Bars, the people are louder and make more noise than the band !
1- $30 Behringer -the only problem with this one is the knob labels are not accurate. I thought it was broken when I got it but then realized the knob labels were messed up. I re-labeled it and it works just fine . Plastic case and basic delay. Certainly worth $30 !
2-Aqua Puss Analog Delay. Simple 3 BIG knobs works just fine, not cheap.
3-Boss DD-7- Excellent but also has extended Delay features that I don't need or use. SMALL Knobs with VERY SMALL print ! Not Cheap.

Problem solved. I separated the pedal and amp into two different outlets, didn't change anything. I tried a different wall wart, VOILA, problem solved.
