If it is a blond Stringmaster, that would be swamp ash.

I gather there were some early D8s in walnut. But most seem to be swamp ash (even the dark finished ones). I wonder if they used alder later, given alder's common use as a Fender wood, but I've never seen it mentioned...

| Surely it's ash. There were some early Duals and Customs that were walnut, but all the Stringmasters were ash. I have heard possibly of some poplar in the later '60s. |

| The original Blonde finishes were always Northern Ash, Fender never used Swamp Ash until they they started doing custom shop guitars in the 1990s or there abouts. |
