1966 Emmons Bolt-On S-10 Lynn Stafford perfection

Post by John Goux »

This is a spectacular 1966 Emmons S10 Bolt On, renovated and setup perfectly by master technician Lynn Stafford.
Bolt-On push pulls are renown for their ballsy tone and sustain. Everything on the steel is original, re-plated or replaced with original or improved parts. The pedal action is smooth.

The steel is impressively light, having brand new lighter legs, is easy to move around the house. You can move it onto stage for quick gigs and still have that huge PP voice, without the weight of a D10. Your back will thank you.

The pickup has been changed to a Telonics, the new X-10.

The cabinet drop is very low on PP guitars, making your intonation easier.

The setup is Emmons. Lynn adds a vertical lowering 5 to Bb and raising 7 to G. String 6 lowers to F# on RKL, a boon with PPs, as raises override lowers.
I’ll post the coped.

The case is an original wood, and still functional, but fairly heavy.
Included is a nice new leg/rod bag.

The guitar is strung with D’Addarrio NYXLs, is intonated and ready to play.

Any questions, give me a shout via PM or email.
Photos to follow.

I’m asking $3600. Buyer pays shipping.

John

Holy Grail

This is sweetest sustaining PP I"ve heard in a long time .... I bet the only reason John is selling is he only plays 12 string and owns every brand that is perfectly made for him ... one lucky SOB is getting a great steel just wish it was my broke ass... B

What a great looking guitar! I love when guitars have cases that show their history... love the “Steel Guitar Country” sticker. I grew up not far from there and never knew it existed! Would have been before my time but still very cool.

These are great old guitars, never fully appreciated 'back in the day' when everyone had to have a D-10. This one looks to have had some really nice treatment.

Thanks for the complements guys.

I do have the original Emmons single coils pickup. I was going to keep it because I like them, and the Telonics X-10 is a $245 upgrade. It is what JayDee has on his PPs. A favorite of many PP players,

I would consider original pickup to be negotiable.
