Dean Rimmer - based on my reading, the earlier models used a stereo out jack. So, you could built a special cable that uses a stereo plug into the guitar and has separate jacks for each pickup and go into a stereo pre-amp to mix the tone, or use one or the other, or use a stereo plug on the other end into something that accepts the stereo plug and outputs the stereo.
Pedal steel, lap steel, resonator, blues harp - why suck at just one instrument when you can do so on many?

Question about Road O Phonic: when played acoustically does it have reso sound and when plugged in does it have steel sound..Maybe odd question but you know what I mean..Thanks, Eric

Yes it has a nice resonator sound when played acoustically and when amped it sounds like a lap steel with a reso touch .

Someone's going to get a great deal on this guitar! I'd suggest removing whatever pickup is currently in the resonator and putting in one of the new Fishman's mounted in a biscuit - add an aura pedal, and voila! you have an amped bisquit reso, or switch pickups, and a very cool lap steel! If I were not so broke, I'd own it!
