Tablet (?) for chord charts

Don't trust myself being able to remember lyrics etc anymore when playing out - What is a good device for loading chord charts on ? Be nice to have it on the mic stand - I don't like using a music stand and paper charts

Several years ago I bought a tablet, and the app "Chord Chart". Fairly easy to store lyrics, chords, etc. I bought a couple of different mounting systems, but neither have my trust. I'm still looking for a tougher mount.

I use an app called One Song on my IPad, it is a fantastic piece of software

I've just bought a cheap Tablet and downloaded an App called 'Lyric Pad 3'. This is being developed by a muso in Australia and only cost $7.99.
It was a bit tricky to learn at first but a friend guided me through it and I now have all my songs on it (no more folders). I am trying to run a couple of HDMI monitors off it so the whole band can see the charts. If it can work, I'll fit the Monitors into surplus Foldback Cabinets to disguise them!
You can download, edit and add Scrolling Automation etc.. I have to wait until we go to Level 2 (hopefully in about a week), so I can take it into a store and get them to check it with the correct cable (before I buy adapters).
I've also ordered (on-line) a Tablet Stand that clips onto my Mic Stand, so I don't need to use a music stand now.

We've had no new Covid-19 cases or deaths for the first time today so the future looks good. But our Government warns not to become complacent!

I've never been good a recalling lyrics mostly because I don't sing (front) all that many songs, never did.

IPAD - Wireless Router at home

I grab lyrics on the net, place them into a WORD file that I can understand, even change a few words here and there.

I save them to a LYRICS folder on the PC, then upload that folder to Google Drive. Once that folder is on Google Drive you can edit change upload new songs whatever , whenever.

I synch my Ipad to google drive,( at home) save all the lyric files locally as well. I do not connect my Ipad to the NET outside the home, so I save everything locally.

IF I forget my Ipad, and I have, my phone ( android) connects to google drive and then I grab the lyrics folder. Now I have access but man are they small !

I use the Ipad for everything MUSIC these days, special charts, notes setlsits etc... Once you get the hang of using it , it takes just a few moments to upload and create new documents lyrics, charts etc.

There is also an APP called Readle Documents which can be used to store stuff on the Ipad But if you start off with WORD docs its a simple life.

TABLET

Just copy the LYRICS folder over to the Tablet. It can reside on an SD card or the Tablet drive, if it has one .

My Tablet, I don't use it on the Net, everything is local.

For android I use a program called Songbook, available on the Google app store. I believe the cost is $7.99 It will read most tab formats and pdf files, making sheet music and fake sheets available. Esay to operate and pretty much bullet proof on stage, it has never failed me at a gig. It has auto scrolling, editing features for all but pdf, drop box storage option,on line song search, transpose, and a sharing option if other members in the band use it. It is the android equivalent of the Apple app Onsong. IMHO,after trying other options, this app is about as good as you will find for android.

I use my hand-me-down (from my daughter) 5th generation (2015) amazon fire tablet with .doc and/or .pdf files. Pretty much any android tablet will work, and they are cheap. I attach it to the leg of the steel, or to my mic stand on a guitar gig, with one of these - https://prolinestands.com/plutm-universal-tablet-mount/ - they were blowing them out at MF for $14.99. Works great, but I'm not sure they're available anymore. There are alternatives.

I just sort songs by title in separate folders for separate projects. I'm not sure what additional organizing software would do for me. I've been making my own word/pdf charts using LibreOffice, I really am a cheapskate when it comes to computers - I can make almost anything work.

I use the free android application Total Commander for Android to access the file system, with its Windows LAN connector plugin to establish an SMB connection with my windoze computers. The only issue I've had is that someone bumped into the thing at a gig and bent the micro-USB connector and have not been able to load files via USB since. But the LAN plugin saved my butt.

Video monitors in foldback cabs is genius!

I make my chord charts in Sibelius (so that I can include odd bits of notation) and I export them as .png files to my wife's old Samsung tablet which clamps to the front leg of the steel.

(She has an iPad and an iPhone now - I seem to have got left behind somehow...)
