I just got an AB pot that was advertised as 500k. It is stamped .5 meg. Are they the same thing?

Yes. 500K is half 1M

K=kilo (1,000)
M=mega, sometimes shortened to meg or megs (1,000,000)
Mullen G2 SD10, Excel S10; Peavey 400s (LTD, Vegas, Session, and Renown); Nashville 112; etc...
