Olaf’s right about Neil Flanz. Great playing... really complimented Gram.

One of my favorites is Rusty Young with Poco.... “What Am I Gonna Do?”

Here is an outro by Lloyd Green that will make you want to feed your steel into a limb shredder!

Album is: The other side, from East Nashville. Song is "Wish Me Away" by Chely Wright.

Listen to Lloyds outtro 3:52 to 4:56 Better pour a stiff one first!

That’s it... I’m calling the equipment rental place now:

“How much for a chipper shredder for about 15 minutes?”

Absolutely - John Hughey was totally sublime on slow material. But I can hardly believe nobody has mentioned Tom Brumley's playing on Together Again, and many other songs. I Sang Dixie with Dwight comes to mind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMQI-L8Pf8k

Mike Johnson's CD "Almost Midnight". Gene Watson sings "Take Me As I Am" and Mike plays an amazing solo in which he changes keys several times. That cut alone is worth the price of the CD.

Hi Josephus- Thanks for that, we've got it fixed...link should work now, be sure to refresh before trying it.

We emigrated Paul's Blog to a new server recently, and a few things didn't make the trip!

Dickey Overbey's Together Again at 55sec. The faces he makes shows the connection between his soul and that old Bud.

Bolt On’s: Red Belly, Brown Belly, 73 Sho~Bud Pro~II, Fender’s/Peavey’s. If it doesn't sound like 1968, then I probably won’t like it.

Though I have admiration and respect for slow steel solos, it is not often that one really grabs my attention. But, one exception that definitely comes to mind is George Strait's version of "So Much Like My Dad". There is some very beautiful playing on that one. It's from about 1991 or 1992... and I'm pretty sure George used Buddy Emmons for most of that album, including that song.
