Andrew,
If you plan on keeping Roy’s treasured Sho-Bud, Ricky Davis is the “Sho-Bud guru/Artist! Ricky will bring it back to as good as new if not better. He’s done a ton of Sho-Bud restoration work for many of us here on the Forum. You have a very special pedal steel there and it deserves a new life IMHO. Good luck either way you choose to go...Carl

Hey Andrew,

I voted "abandon it and live in a van", but of course, that's not really my thoughts.

I sent you an email via the forum. If you don't see it in your inbox, check your spam and other folders. Send me a reply and I can send you all the info I accumulated when I was restoring a '74 Pro II Bud. But the advice to send it to Ricky is solid - he's the master.

And wow! I don't think I've ever seen an original Pro II (non-Custom) that was two-tone. I refinished mine as a two-tone - here's a picture just so I can brag:

Ricky - I love the comment about 30 minutes to disassemble, but 3 months to put back together! Is that true? You can really put one back together that fast??? Hahaha! It took me 4 years!!!
Pedal steel, lap steel, resonator, blues harp - why suck at just one instrument when you can do so on many?

Yeah a Two-Tone Barrel Tuning "PRO-II" is fairly rare.

Congratulations Andrew.

I would have loved to have purchased that guitar. Because it was Roy’s and some real sentimental things for me regarding Roy and his music. What a treasure.

Roy Clark's Sho-Bud

Ricky is correct, takes no time tearing down the guitars but more time putting it together, I would update the changers anyways even though the changers on this guitar still looks good but need cleaned, the changers are not the modern versions and are limited, a guitar like this should not be limited.

This confirms what I had heard about Roy Clark being able to play the steel. He could play any musical instrument that had strings.

Steven; look at the Big Jim Murphy Pro~II I set up for him years ago..."Limited"?? I think NOT..ha...and the Single/Single fingers with the pin you hook the string on; were made from 6061 aluminum and will BLOW THE DOORS off any modern fingers/steel in sound> PERIOD !!!

YES that is 10 pedals and 8 knee levers......Original single/single Same fingers.

The changers on this vintage are perfect. You only need a single/single changer because the barrels do all the work. You can have endless changes on one pull rod.
