Bobby Koefer Fans

Post by John B Blair »

I just spoke to the great Bobby Koefer and his wife this afternoon and all is well with them during this stay at home time. He & my mother Ramona Reed were with Bob Wills during the same time in 1950 and have remained friends. It really warmed my heart to visit with a legend like him at 91 years of age!

Thanks for this John, great news about Bobby and his wife. And how cool that your Mom worked with the one and only Bob Wills. That’s a great photo of them at your Facebook link below, she looks every inch a Western swing star in that outfit! 8)

Mike Anderson, checkout this tune with her singing on and Bobby playing steel. Billy Briggs is on saxophone and still living and playing in Dallas area. https://youtu.be/0g82tFC28eI

Great song, thanks for the link John! YouTube also displayed Another one with her vocals, “don’t send him back to me,” so I did a search and there are lots!

And Billy Briggs is still alive and gigging? As in the X.I.T Boys? 8)

That “Don’t Send Him Back To Me” included the Nashville “A - Team” including Lloyd Green, Tommy Jackson, Harold Bradley, Pig Robbins, Buddy Spicher, and of course The Jordanaires on background vocals. That session was recorded in historic Studio B, September 1967.

Sorry, I just remembered there was a whole thread in the old forum about which Billy Briggs was which, and of course Billy Briggs the saxophonist is not the same person who played steel.
