Mine, measuring the visible portion of the grill only, is 16 3/8" X 12 3/8". I don't know whether they're all the same or not.

They are not all the same. I have 2 and they are slightly different. My older one is 16 1/2”.

they are all the manufactured to the same specs, +/- tolerances . Mine is just a tad over 16 + 3/8 . 16 +3/8 is the same as 16 + 1/2 within specified tolerances. The opening side to side is 16+1/2.
It would be quite unusual to have two different factory assembly /manufacturing specs. But some materials can be on one side of the spec tolerance or the other. Like the grill cloth for example. 1/16 on each side gives you that extra 1/8 in a total measurement. Different vendors supply wood, grill cloth and tolex , within specifications within minimal tolerances.
All it takes is 1/16 direction in spec one way or the other. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

They are both older. The tweed one is heavier and you can see the box is slightly larger. They both sound good but the tweed is the better of the two. You can hear that tweed on resonates more.,
I don’t know what type of board.
