pickup

Post by Darrell Denton »

I've not been playing but a year now . I have a mullen s10 with the stock slim pickup , and I guess I'm just at the point where I can tell the difference in what I'm hearing. I set up my pickup the two quarter trick, and I noticed in my single string stuff that the 1st and 3rd. strings did not seem as loud as the other strings. i checked with a db meter and those two strings seem do be about 10 db less than the others ..is this normal or should I do something? do I need a different pickup? Just not sure, and would appreciate any advise...thanks..

A) you asked in wrong sub-forum

B) That mullen single coil is a really excellent p/u. It should have springs under all mounting screws but it if doesnt get some. Plug your steel into an interface or mixer and listen to it thru accurate headphones. Raise the pickup treble side until it starts sounding overgained, then back it off
