I watched the Garth Brooks, Gershwin awards show on PBS last night and it was fantastic! On stage was a Mullen D10, G2 and I believe the player was Bruce Bouten? Although Garth didnt' introduce the band. |

It was a good show, but part of it seemed to be part of Garth's solo Vegas act when he sang a bunch of songs by other artists.
1st Pedal Steeler was Bruce Bouton on his Emmons. Bruce toured with Garth during the 2014-2015 World Tour
2nd Pedal Steeler was Steve McClure - who originally started touring with Garth, and is now again part of Garth's touring band
Although Garth did not introduce the band, he did refer to the 5 current tour members who had been together since late 80's (drummer, fiddle player, bassist, and a missing lead guitarist)
Garth also mentioned two others (Bruce Bouton and David Gant) who had played on every one of Garth's records....fondly called "The G-Men."
David Gant played piano at end of show on "The Dance"
I thought it kind of interesting that after the last song "The Dance," Garth stated that above all else, rather than being remembered as an entertainer, artist, etc., he wanted to be remembered as a Song-Writer.
He neglected to mention that he did not write "The Dance."

Garth's current steel player is Steve McClure. He'd been Garth's steel player in the '90s and played an Emmons guitar, and around 1997, he was playing a white Sierra. Bruce Bouton played on Garth's records in the '90s, playing steel intros to "Shameless", "That Summer", solos on "Learning To Live Again, "She's Every Woman", and "That Old Wind", and in 2016, Bruce played steel in Garth's band. |
