Fender 2000 now a 1000

Post by Stuart Legg »

Can you believe someone chopped it down to a single neck?
Anyway it has 10 pedals only 5 are hooked up. The idea would be 3 pedals hook up A B & C E9 and 2 pedals to lower and raise the E's, What the heck it's cables hook them up anyway you want or add some more.
Let me see what else, oh yeah the mute on the back pan is missing. Oh yeah you have 5 pedals that are hooked up to cables and 5 other pedals are not, It only has 9 pedal rods.
A steal at $495 + shipping and packaging

That's some crazy beast you have there! I've never seen anything like it. I don't think it's a chopped down 1000. Because it has ten strings it must be a chopped down 2000.

At any rate, it looks like a perfectly good SD10 with double raise and lowers at a great price. Good luck!

2000 I'm sure you're right so I guess you could now call it a 1000. I have no idea exactly how the cables are hooked up but I was told they are easy to change. I was told that it was ABC and lower the E's but I will have to honestly say I don't know for sure.

A 1000 would be a long scale double 8, not a single 10.

All I know is originally it had two 10 string necks hooked up with cables and it was chopped down by someone to one neck and a pad.
I thought (2000 meant D10) (1000 meant S10)

FYI:
Fender 400 and 1000 were 8 string long scale made 1957-63. 800 and 2000 were 10 strings short scale made ‘64-mid 70s. That’s the short explanation.

Boy thats a great deal.. Tons of extra parts too.. I would leave 5 or 6 pedals on and add 4 levers.. the price is really good, modified or not.. If I were still playing out, this would be gone already.. Great platform for a tinkerer,,, Guys are asking $1500 now for clean examples of the 800 10 sting fender pedal steel.. 1/3 the price on this one, and it will do the same exact thing as a ""clean"" one.. Nice buy at the asking price!... bob

I didn't give much attention to how it was hooked up because it was obvious that folks would want or need to change the pedal arrangement
You can hook up more cables, lengthen or shorten cables and move them around any way you want on the changer.
in fact you have the option to hook up 5 more cables.

well my mouth again, I meant to be speaking in general when I went all self righteous about offers below asking price. After taking a later look at my reply it a appears my comment was directed at Jack Goodson chastising him for making a lower offer.
That was not my intent.
Jack Goodson's offer was a legitimate, reasonable and in no way insulting.
Jack Goodson is a good person and I appreciated his participation here.
Jack hopefully you will return here and accept my sincere apology.
