Pre-War Ricky on eBay

Post by Ray Montee »

For those of you still seeking that pre-war Rick, there is one now on eBay for just $450
and the seller says it's basically original except for the tuning pegs. Now's your chance

Caution: This is NOT a bakelite, it's a steel bodied guitar.

Actually, how might one describe it?

How to describe it? A complete waste of money! Rusted and heavily scratched, with replacement knobs and an extra hole drilled through the top, no case - for $450? Forget it! Surely this must be a planted bid.

This is the guitar in question. What a piece of junk. I rarely comment on other people's attempts to sell lap steels through eBay, but I pity the fool who buys this one at that price.
"Killer vintage patina" - heh.

That guitar has had to see better days.....

And, there ought to be a law to prosecute anyone that would do that to a guitar.

And.......$450.00, as a starting bid? Surely the seller must be a comedian, right?
Or, does the public in general take steel guitarists to be little more than dummies?

Can't wait to see what the hi bid is going to be.

This ebay one looks like a mess, but I have a prewar model 59 that is kind of nice. Has a loud wide-magnet pickup and has newspapers inside from '38. The jack is on the bass string side so you need to use an angle plug.

Here's what a new one looked like (I think the picture came from Rickenback company page.)
