Kline Steel:

Post by Barry Minnick »

I had a beautiful Kline natural finish single 12 that looked nothing like this one. This one looks very strange and Joe Kline never had the Kline name (on the many ones I saw and played near the pick up), as in this photo. No Kline name on the front either, which means some work must have been done on this one. Also, I thought Joe Kline made his guitars in Ohio...not Florida...Just say'in...

Joe retired and moved from Ohio at some point. Maybe before he stopped building. That is definitely a Kline. I believe that the Kline I had, had Kline printed onthe pickup end of the fretboard. I believe that is an aftermarket fretboard. I've never seen one like that on a Kline. Probably a great playing guitar.

Thank you all for the comments, compliments, and helpful info. And Richard, thanks for clarifying the name badging and Joe's whereabouts; I had heard that he'd moved at some point and that makes sense.
