New Fulawka

Post by Jack Latimer »

I finally have my new Fulawka 10. (4floor/5knee/split tuning). A great sound, whisper quiet pedals and quality throughout. Thanks Ed Fulawka, you're a craftsman at your trade. Hey, what's "split tuning"?

Although I'm new to this tuning and option here's one definition. A split allows you to have a combination tuning on strings which are both raised and lowered. For example, G# lower to F# with a knee lever can be split to G with the B pedal.

Nice steel and great finish on the steel parts and wood also! Gonna have to change the name steel guitar to "aluminum guitar" or "carbon fiber" guitar soon. Looks like the 4 on the floor is becoming more standard for (I assume) E9th.

Beautiful Jack. It looks to be a deeper shade of blue than the Fulawka 'Blue Darlin' ' that Ricky Davis owned. I love those blue lacquer guitars. Bet it sounds great as well.

Jack, I know you will enjoy one of the finest steel guitars in the world!. Is that a formica finish? It looks similar to mica single 10 Ed made 5 or 6 years ago which My brother bought. Nothing plays any better! Lonnie Portwood

Congrats, Jack....now that's a fine Canadian-made steel. You must be over the moon about finally having it parked in your home.

Thanks for the feedback gang. The guitar is a formica finish. I love the Blue Darlin', but I also fell in love with this finish and since Ed had this body already in the works I was able to get the guitar completed much quicker. It's so nice to play a guitar that stays in tune and when I play it beside my old guitar (I won't mention the make incase I insult someone), the sound is heavenly.

Bo, here's a look at the copedant. P-1 is the additional pedal from the normal 3 pedal setup. Image
[This message was edited by Jack Latimer on 10 March 2006 at 09:03 AM.]

I had the idea that Ed Fulawka only built lacquer guitars. This is the first formica finish Fulawka I've ever seen. Still a very attractive instrument.

Jack, just talked to Eddie and he suggested I let you know that I am playing at the Orillia Legion on Friday and Saturday with Rod Snow and SteelRail. You might want to drop down.
Please confirm that you know about it.
Thanks Ollie

Jack you have got a great guitar there and you will enjoy it. It is nice to live close to Ed as well. We will have to get together some time.
