Most of you know that when it comes to these old shobuds, Ricky Davis and John Coop pretty much work in concert to resurrect these fine shobuds. If Ricky's schedule is too tight, John can help ya out. If John's schedule is too tight, Ricky can usually cover it. Two of the finest shobud men in my book! Ricky's worked on my guitars for over 3 years now, and because of him, I met John. Ricky, it's unbelievable what you yourself contribute to the steel community---thanx from me. John's got most of the thunder on this thread, BUT Ricky's got the lightening! HA!!

Thanks James for your super kind words and your trust in me and Coop.
You have had some outragiously awesome sounding pedal steels(the spirit steel Marlen; single-10 professional bud; '69 professional)and for your ears to hear this new Coop mechanism with the old big body sho-bud as the tone monster of them all; is a great testiment that you CAN make a old shobud keep its original voice; but update it to perfection in mechanics.
John Coop and I are thrilled that you are so in hog heaven now and with anything Coop and I do; you have a lifetime warrenty of any tweeking/adjustment help you may need.

just checking but you did leave the legs i bought new from don burrows and the truetone pickups? if you get a scratch on those legs you can sand and buff it out real easy. i think truetone pickups are the best.

Yes Jimmie, Jerry Wallace is the best! I traded the TT's that you sent in that guitar for the stockers John put in,as I wanted the coil taps. I have a pair Jerry made for me, just like the ones you had in that guitar, except I had Jerry make them with the coil taps, as I wanted to be more period correct, and I just like coil taps. I'm fixin' to slap them into my walnut Professional right now, 'cause I love the sound of Jerry's TT's. And the legs are wonderful and work /look just perfect, too!

Ricky, You guys have covered warranty plenty enough just being available to answer questions/steer me in the right direction! You guys have fast-tracked me BIGTIME. I know far more about Shobud guitars than I thought I ever would,(and ya'll still forgot more than I'll ever know!HA!!)

James that is a gorgous guitar and it looks like Coop did a really nice job on it! I'm almost done with my Professional renovation with Coop parts, and John has been very helpful throughout the process.

Is that a new refinish job on the cabinet? (sure looks like it but it's hard to tell via photos). If so, was the original finish natural? I love that look.

Actually George, I bought this guitar from Jimmie Martin as a project guitar, and Jimmie had already refinished the cabinet. Jimmie is a great cabinet refinisher by trade(kitchens and cabinets, ect.), and did a tremendous job on this guitar. I'm not sure, but I believe this guitar started out as a walnut stained cabinet. james it was a dark walnut. real ugly. i stripped it down and tried to make it as blonde as i could. it worked out pretty good. i think. but now it is just like new . that guitar is worth a lot of money now. i sure would like to find another one that i could take my time on and refinish and use some of coops parts. kinda like a year long project.

Sweet! I'm guessing I'll be needing some of those parts soon for a Pro II Custom project. I'd love to see more detailed pics of the underside. The one pic just has me really interested in seeing more of all the little details. N.
